Electric Chainsaws

Electric chainsaws are ideal for homeowners that can power their chainsaws from a local electrical outlet with the cord provided or with an extension cord. They typically have less power than gas chainsaws but are a smart buy for those that do not need the extra power which will cost more money. If you only need to prune and cut around the house, than an electrical chain saw is a good buy.

Cordless Chainsaws

Cordless chainsaws are powered by battery. They are a little bit more expensive than electric, but you get more mobility for cutting in tough to reach places and higher altitudes. The freedom of movement with a cordless chainsaw allows you to cut wood without having to worry about moving the cord. Some landscapers may opt to buy a cordless, but they are usually bought by homeowners as the power is still limited vs. a gas model.

The engine is more powerful and gas refills will be more convenient than battery charging when you are working.
